Courtney White: Clarinet

Courtney White is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and a graduate of Grissom High School. Ms. White began her musical training at the age of eight with Elizabeth Potter. She enrolled at Auburn University to pursue a degree in engineering, but her love of music and the clarinet prompted a change of major to music. While at Auburn, she was an active member of the music community and was Principal Clarinet of both the Auburn University Orchestra and Symphonic Band. She has also performed regularly with the woodwind quintet, woodwind trio and clarinet ensembles. Her accomplishments include selection to the 2007 Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band the the 2010 CBDNA Southern Intercollegiate Band. She was selected to perform for Auburn University President Jay Gogue and has performed as a featured soloist for the Auburn University Orchestra. At Auburn, Ms. White was a student of David Odom, Principal Clarinetist of the Atlanta Opera and Columbus Symphony. 

After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2009, Ms. White moved from Auburn, Alabama to Charleston, South Carolina to begin a studio and to freelance. She lived in Charleston for 3 years and held a studio of 15 students. Her students held the top chairs in their school programs and successfully competed in the South Carolina Region and State Competitions. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in August 2013 to complete her Masters of Music Performance at Georgia State University under the instruction of Kenneth Long.  She currently holds Principal Clarinet for the Georgia State University Orchestra. She graduated with her Masters in May 2015 and will be continuing with her Artist Certificate at Georgia State University.
