Luke Weathington: Saxophone


Luke Weathington, an Alabama native, moved to Atlanta five years ago to study with the best in music. While beginning his education at Reinhardt College, Luke has finished his degree in saxophone performance at Kennesaw State University under the direction of Sam Skelton. As a classical saxophonist, he has toured Italy as principal saxophonist with the Tara Winds Orchestra and was principal saxophonist in both the KSU Wind Ensemble and the Reinhardt College Wind Ensemble.

As a freelance saxophonist, he has also had the privilege of performing around the South with jazz combos, big bands, rock groups, party bands, and latin bands. Some of the musicians Luke has had the honor of playing with and/or learning from are: Sam Skelton, Cary Brague, Jerry Weldon of Harry Connick Jr.'s Big Band, Cleveland Eaton of Count Basie's Orchestra, Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and of Dave Mathews Band, Felix Pastorious, Mace Hibbard, and Vince di Martino.
