Nicole Chamberlain: Flute & Composition


Nicole Chamberlain balances her time as a freelance flutist, composer, music engraver, and web designer. Her compositions have been performed from Alias Chamber Ensemble in Nashville, TN to flutist, James Strauss in Recife, Brazil. Nicole was awarded Atlanta Pen Women's Composer of the Year 2008 and her work "Mangosteen" is featured on a new cd of works compiled by the Georgia Chapter of the National Museum of Women and Agnes Scott College. "Mangosteen" was also performed at the Nineth Festival of Women Composers at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Nicole received her Bachelors in Music Composition from the University of Georgia where she studied with Dr. William Davis, Dr. Leonard Ball, and Dr.Lewis Nielson and was selected for master classes with Charles Wuorinen and Joan Tower. As a flutist, she currently performs with duoATL,  Mercury Season, New Atlanta Philharmonic, and various jazz situations throughout Atlanta.  Nicole has participated in flute masterclasses with Paul Edmund-Davies (London Symphony Orchestra) and Dr. Gordon Cole (University of Kentucky). Nicole 's former flute teachers have included Donna Orbavich (Hong Kong Symphony), Lisa Wienhold (Alabama Symphony), Dr. Ronald Waln (University of Georgia) and occassionally Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's principal flutist, Christina Smith.
